The effect is largest on people with naturally light hair, and that is exactly where the colour is most often chosen too dark. So I prefer to work half a shade lighter than you had in mind: that reads as your own brow, while too dark instantly looks tinted.
On the skin the colour holds three to five days, on the hair three to five weeks. Those two diverge, and that is normal: for the first few days your brows look fuller because the skin between the hairs takes colour too.
